Mental Health Carers NT
Mental Health Carers NT (formerly NT ARAFMI) is a support service for families and friends of people with a mental illness or disorder.
If you have just discovered that a family member or friend has a mental illness/disorder. You are probably feeling a little shocked, confused and afraid, not knowing what to expect or how best to help that person you care about. Remember that you are not alone! MHC NT can help by offering support, education and advocacy.
Do you need help in finding your way around all the issues that occur when someone you love is diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder?
One person in five will experience some form of mental illness during their lifetime. Many carers will undergo extreme stress.
Mental Health Carer “caring and sharing” groups are designed to help you cope with people with a psychiatric disorder, and become an effective caregiver. Be comforted by sharing experiences with those who, having coped in similar situations, really understand and are willing listeners.
This website will replace the previous website (ntarafmi.org.au) to provide more support and information to carers and their families. Please call back to see any updates in the MHC Blog, or use the RSS feeds to receive notification of updates in your favourite RSS Reader.
